In Tropic, task triggers define which prior tasks must be completed or skipped before a task becomes active. You can use ALL or ANY logic to set these triggers, providing flexibility based on workflow needs.
For example, you might have a Finance Approval task that only opens once all preceding approval tasks are completed.
In Workflow Studio, tasks are visually connected to their triggers with incoming lines, making it easy to understand the task sequence.
Editing a Task’s Triggers
- Open the workflow in Workflow Studio.
- Add a new task or select an existing one. This opens the task details panel, which remains omnipresent, allowing you to easily navigate and update settings without closing the panel.
-
In the Trigger section:
- Use the dropdown(s) to select prior tasks as triggers for the current task.
- To add more triggers, click Add Trigger and choose additional tasks.
- For tasks with multiple triggers, select ALL or ANY logic based on whether all or just any of the selected triggers need to be completed for the task to open
Important: If a task relies on multiple conditional tasks, using ALL logic ensures each condition is met. Choosing ANY could inadvertently allow the task to proceed prematurely.
- Complete any additional fields as neededFill out the remaining fields for the task as desired.
- Click Add Task or Save Task to save your changes.
