Effective Wednesday, July 24, we’re updating our Task Permissions to enable you to better manage who can complete and edit tasks.
What's Changing?
Previously, any Tropic user could complete, edit, skip, or reopen any workflow tasks. With this update, workflow tasks can be acted on by only the task assignee or the Department Admin for any tasks within that department.
Key Updates Include:
-
Completion Permissions:
- Task assignees can complete their own tasks.
- Department admins can complete tasks assigned to users or requests within their department.
- Platform members can no longer complete tasks assigned to others.
- Organization owners have full task completion permissions.
-
Edit/Skip/Reopen Permissions:
- Task assignees can edit, skip, or reopen their own tasks.
- Department admins can perform these actions for all tasks within their department.
- Platform members can no longer edit, skip, or reopen tasks assigned to others.
- Organization owners can manage all tasks across requests.
-
Editing Request Submission Permissions:
- Previously, only owners had the permission to edit a Request Submission
- Department admins can now edit request submissions when they are the requestor, the requestor is a user within their department, or the request is within their department.
- Requestors can also edit request submissions.
-
Changing Workflow Assigned to Request Permissions:
- Previously, only owners could change an assigned workflow.
- Now, Department admins can also change the workflow assigned to a request when they are the requestor, the requestor is a user within their department, or the request is within their department.
What Does This Mean for You?
If you have users who you would like to complete, edit, skip, reassign, or reopen any and all tasks, update them to have the Owner role.
These updates ensure tasks are managed by users with the correct authority levels, enhancing process compliance and user satisfaction.
