Notifications for New Expert Insights
When a new Expert Insight is published, Tropic sends an email to anyone who is a contract owner on an active contract or a requestor on an active request for that supplier. The email shows the insight headline and a summary. Select View Insight to open it directly in Tropic.
You may also receive Slack notifications if your organization has connected Slack to Tropic.
What You Can Do with Expert Insights
Expert Insights help you understand how a supplier change might impact your renewal, budget, or ongoing work. You can review the summary, see what changed, and use that information to plan next steps with confidence.
Finding Expert Insights in Tropic
Follow this path when you want to see important updates about a supplier.
Supplier Intelligence page - Alert section
- In the Supplier Intelligence page
- Look at the Supplier Alerts section and open an insight (click View Details)
- Click View All to see every insight related to your suppliers.

If a supplier has an active Expert Insight, it appears when you open their profile. A banner at the top shows the insight headline, and you can select View Insight to open it. Alternatively, you can click on View Details in the Expert Insights area.
Contracts and Requests
If there is an active insight for the supplier, a banner appears at the top of the page. This lets you open the full insight while you review the contract or request.
What You’ll See in an Expert Insight
Expert Insights give you a quick way to understand what changed with a supplier and how it could affect your work. Each insight is designed to help you make decisions without digging for information.
- Key Changes: A short summary of what the supplier updated, including things like pricing increases, reductions, new requirements, or shifts in their offering. This helps you understand the change at a glance.
- Why This Matters: Provides you with a clear context about how the change may impact your renewal, budget, or planning.
- Action Items: These action items are simple suggestions you can follow, like reviewing your contract, checking seat counts, or preparing for a pricing change.

Q: What are “Expert Insights”?
A: Expert Insights are supplier-specific pricing and packaging updates identified and validated by Tropic’s Category Experts. They provide early visibility into meaningful changes a supplier may be planning—such as upcoming price adjustments, packaging updates, licensing model shifts, or modifications to discount structures.
Expert Insights are informed by Tropic’s ongoing work with suppliers and customers, including:
- Conversations with suppliers during routine business interactions
- Negotiations and renewal discussions supported by Tropic’s Customer Experience team
- Supplier calls and demos
Each insight is reviewed and validated by Tropic’s team before it is published to ensure accuracy and relevance.
Q: Why don’t I see an Expert Insight that someone else at my company can see?
A: You will only see an Expert Insight if:
- Your organization has an active contract with the supplier, or
- You’re a requestor on an active request for that supplier.
Q: Who writes these insights? Are they AI-generated?
A: Most Expert Insights are written and validated by Tropic’s Customer Experience team.
Some draft insights may be AI-generated from supplier calls, but all insights are reviewed by Tropic before being published.
