Overview
Savings Intelligence lets you log savings when you use Tropic intelligence and manage negotiations yourself.
Savings are logged directly in Tropic instead of being tracked in spreadsheets or external tools. This makes it easier to understand impact, support renewal conversations, and see which intelligence contributed to outcomes.

How to Log Savings
You can log savings in two ways.
Log savings from a task
When you use Tropic pricing or negotiation tools, such as price benchmarks or negotiation playbooks, and a related contract event occurs, Tropic automatically creates a Log Savings task.
- Open the Log Savings task.
- Review what triggered it, including:
- The intelligence used
- The related contract
- Contract summary details
Select whether you saved money or gained value.
- If you select Yes, complete the form:
- Starting Value: The originally quoted price.
-
Ending Value: The negotiated price you agreed to.
If a contract value exists, this may prefill. -
Total Savings: Automatically calculated based on starting and ending values.
You can edit this if needed.
Suggestions are prefilled when possible and can always be edited. You can upload supporting documents and add notes before submitting.
-
What result did you achieve? Select one or more:
- Cost Reduction
- Value Enhancement
- Cost Avoidance
- Termination
If you select No, confirm that no savings were realized.
Note: Only one savings entry can be logged per contract.
Log savings manually
You don’t always need to wait for a task to log savings. Manual logging is useful when savings come from decisions that don’t trigger an automatic task, such as deciding not to renew a contract or walking away from a supplier after reviewing pricing.
You can log savings manually from several places in Tropic, including contract and supplier pages.
Use manual logging when:
- No Log Savings task was created
- A contract was terminated or not renewed
What Gets Tracked
Each savings entry records:
- The savings amount
- Baseline and final contract values
- The intelligence used
- The related contract and supplier
Logged savings appear on:
- Contract detail pages
- Supplier detail pages
- Savings reporting
